On Monday, my mom decided we were wasting our summer. So she made a list of things we have to do in order to get a Popsicle at the end of everyday. Our list looks like this:
-Make beds
-Use kind words
-Read scriptures (30 min.)
-Personal Progress/journal/blog (Yes, this blog:)
-Piano (20 min.)
This list of things to do actually really helped me remember that the Lord commanded us not to idle, but to use our time to do great things. I have progressed in piano more than ever during the summer. I have been more aware of my Personal Progress-doing. I actually am writing a song for my value project for Faith at the moment! I have read more of my scriptures now than I ever have during the school year because of this requirement. And I have been more aware of what I'm saying to my siblings and my parents. As well as making my bed, of course, but that's easy. :)
On Tuesday, I did the list of things, and that's basically it. On Wednesday, I also just did the things on the list. On Thursday, I did the list of things again. Except, I felt really empty inside. I felt like I didn't know what to do with myself, even though I was doing the same thing everyday, and I enjoyed it. My mom said that I should pray about it. So I did. The next day, my mom told me that my cousin was teaching herself Japanese. I realized that maybe I should teach myself Hindi. It would be perfect, because we are moving to India, and my dad is currently learning it himself. I think it would be helpful to have my dad's help, too.
On Friday, was my dad's birthday, so that night we went out to eat at On The Border. They had really good Mexican food! My burrito was too spicy, so I had to scrape all the hot sauces off the top. I told one of the waiters it was my dad's birthday, and they gave dad an 'on the house' brownie with ice cream:) The brownie was even better than the actual food, to be honest.
On Saturday, me, mom, and Aja went school clothes shopping. First we went to Marshall's, where I got a black lace shirt that zipped up in the back, a bull dog with studs crop top, and a hummingbird shirt (which I LOVE!). It was really fun, especially since we went to Target and the thrift store after that, where we looked at clothes, and found some new board games we could play as a family, or even for YW. Today (Sunday), we obviously went to church, then came home and made a cake for my dad's birthday. Since I'm in the Beehive YW Presidency, I had to stay after church (despite it's fast Sunday) for a presidency meeting to discuss and plan upcoming activities. Sister Sorenson drove me home, and then we actually made the cake. My dad asked for a carrot cake, so my mom made it, and I did my favorite part - iced it. :) We are really excited.
I literally just found out that we are going to New York 3 days before we take a plane to New Delhi! We are all so excited because none of us have been to New York City.
Stay tuned! :)
